Fiorina manages to blend the darker topics with sweet moments though. Stay With Me handles some tough topics and is a bit dark so it might not appeal to all readers. However, the story is more than my issue and I think my personal feelings about the topic may cloud my opinion. Its like addicts-you don’t date a fellow addict you met in rehab because its just a recipe for relapse. My personal struggle with their relationship is that I know how dangerous it can be for people in mental health crisis to begin a relationship with others in mental health crisis. The angst level is HIGH in this book as I’m sure you can imagine given the place they meet. These two have a seriously complicated relationship but you can’t help but want them to find their HEA. Ollie, the hero, is very different from Mia, but still struggling with his own mental health. You can imagine the unique characters she meets at Dolor (the school). She is sent to a reform school of sorts where she can get mental health support and an education. Mia, the heroine, thinks she is a sociopath. The story touches on topics of mental health and I really appreciated the author’s approach on the topic. Stay With Me by Nicole Fiorina is a debut story that will stay with you long after the book is over. Either he will be the one to free her from her past, or she will be the one to destroy him. But because of her sociopath tendencies, she knows it could only end in one of two ways. With green eyes, tattoos, and the voice of a poet, she is quickly drawn to him. Though Mia never anticipated Ollie Masters. She’d keep her head down, ignore everyone, and make it through the next two years effortlessly. This book is absolutely amazing.In a desperate final attempt to save nineteen-year-old Mia from herself, she gets transferred to Dolor University, a reformatory college in the UK that housed deranged and dangerous young adults who viewed the private institution as their own personal playground. I would highly recommend this book if you like reformatory college romances, gothic romances, new adult romances, romantic suspense, or psychological thrillers. Lilly and Michael did an amazing job on the narration! I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future. This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster. Nicole does an amazing job making you feel everything that Mia and Oliver are feeling. I originally read the book in 2019 when it was released and was so excited to see it come to life in audio.
